Employee Intelligence
Your employees are your business's most valuable asset. 74&WEST helps you make the most of that asset by designing and executing projects that explore employees' ideas, insights and sentiments to make your business stronger. While other firms offer off-the-shelf employee solutions, 74&WEST takes its bespoke, end-to-end intelligence approach down any path of inquiry and into any niche that involves tapping into employee thinking.
We hesitate to offer examples of the kinds of programs that are possible, simply because we don't want to limit your thinking. A Chief Technology Officer might hire us to conduct a focus group before designing a new procurement system; a Head of Sales might ask us to pick the brains of her entire sales force to gather up the best ideas for meeting a bold new revenue target; a Human Resources Officer might want us to interview employees to explore a problematic finding coming out of the annual engagement survey; and so on. Think of a business problem and ask yourself if hearing from your employees would help you to solve it; if the answer is yes, 74&WEST will gladly follow you down the rabbit hole and get you the answers you need.
As diverse as these projects may be, they all share the following features:
Carefully designed inquiries that ask the right questions in the right ways to yield the data you seek
The highest degree of professionalism and a collegial experience in every contact with your employees (We pride ourselves on making your employees feel "heard")
Absolute anonymity and bulletproof protection of sensitive data
Hands-on analysis that delivers both hard data and the unvarnished voice of your employees
Examples of 74&WEST Employee Intelligence Projects:
A Fortune 500 company relied heavily on a competitive summer internship program to source top young talent annually for its various divisions. But the firm had uncovered an unwelcome trend: fewer and fewer interns actually accepting job offers. 74&WEST designed a comprehensive inquiry and engaged summer intern program alumni in thoughtful, in-depth interviews. 74&WEST provided the firm with rich insights based on first-hand experiences that guided the firm’s efforts to revamp the program to offer summer interns greater transparency into employment opportunities and a richer mentoring experience.
The Human Resources department of a global investment bank was finding tremendous survey fatigue amongst employees with the firm’s standard employee engagement effort. The firm charged 74&WEST to use its bespoke and human-touch approaches to reach across the org chart to more meaningfully unveil employee satisfaction, perceptions of internal opportunity and more. 74&WEST designed a multi-pronged approach of telephone-based anonymous interviews and a more nuanced online survey to help the company more accurately track employee satisfaction, to better understand its retention challenges and to communicate its investment in employees.
An investment bank had spent extensive time and money marketing to employees a campaign to cooperate differently across regions and divisions. But the mandate wasn’t being taken seriously enough. The firm employed 74&WEST to help them understand what was getting in the way of adoption. 74&WEST conducted 50 one-on-one interviews with leaders and staff globally and executed a series of in-person focus groups to measure awareness of the campaign, unpack employee perceptions of the effort and identify stop-points. Ultimately, 74&WEST found that the bank’s own incentives elsewhere were at odds with the mission of the campaign and that divisional leadership wasn’t modeling adoption of the effort for the broader team to follow. With this intelligence, the firm was able to distill its options and make the tough call to revise incentives or retire the campaign.
